BCCI Set to Revise Central Contracts: Rohit, Kohli in Focus, Gill Likely to Move to A+ Category

Shubman Gill, India’s Test and ODI captain, is reportedly in line for promotion to the top A-plus category, while the board is expected to review the central contracts of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma at its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Rohit, Kohli central contracts on AGM agenda

The BCCI apex council is scheduled to hold its annual AGM on December 22. According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), officials are set to discuss potential revisions to the central contracts of Kohli and Rohit.

Both players have retired from T20I and Test cricket and now feature solely in the ODI team. As a result, the BCCI is considering adjustments to their central contracts for the upcoming season. Currently in the A-plus category, Kohli and Rohit could face a possible demotion depending on the board’s decision.

Shubman Gill tipped for A-plus promotion

Reports indicate that Shubman Gill could be elevated to the A-plus category, reflecting his leadership role in the Indian Test and ODI sides. The Punjab batter also serves as the vice-captain of India’s T20I team and is expected to succeed Suryakumar Yadav as T20I captain after the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Gill would join A-plus stalwarts such as Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. Currently in the A-category, Gill’s annual earnings would rise from INR 5 crores to INR 7 crores if promoted.
