This is the second attempt by the BCB to relocate the fixtures, following the controversy surrounding Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad for IPL 2026. The BCB has cited serious security concerns for its players, highlighting rising anti-Muslim sentiment and recent incidents, including the mob lynching of Bangladeshi Hindu national Dipu Chandra Das in India.
According to bdcrictime, the ICC is expected to respond to Bangladesh’s renewed request within 48 hours, which will determine whether the team’s World Cup matches will be moved from Indian venues. In its latest communication, the BCB reiterated its firm stance on relocating the fixtures.
Adding another layer to the situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed support for Bangladesh’s position, with Pakistan itself scheduled to play all its T20 World Cup 2026 matches outside India in co-host Sri Lanka. This alignment has further intensified the standoff between Bangladesh and India.
With the T20 World Cup set to begin on February 7, the ICC’s decision in the next two days could force swift action from either the BCB or the BCCI, as the cricketing world awaits clarity on the controversial venue issue.
