Bangladesh U-19 Encounters Challenges in Rain-Interrupted Warm-up Match Against Sri Lanka

The Bangladesh Under-19 team faced a 112-run defeat in the DLS method against the Sri Lankan Under-19 team in their first warm-up match before the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Pretoria. Sri Lanka posted a total of 238-9 in 49 overs, thanks to Pulindu Perera’s 50 and contributions from the rest of their batting lineup. Bangladesh’s leg-spinner Wasi Siddquee performed well, taking a couple of wickets.

In the rain-affected match, Bangladesh had a revised target of 232 in 36.2 overs but fell short. Jishan Alam scored the highest with 26, while the rest of the team struggled to reach even the 20s. The Young Tigers managed only 119-9 in their allotted overs, with Sri Lankan medium pacer Vishen Halambage taking three wickets.

Looking ahead, Bangladesh will face Australia in their second and final warm-up match on Wednesday. The ICC Under-19 World Cup is scheduled to start on January 19.
