After weeks of silence, Nigar has finally broken her silence, addressing the controversy publicly.
Nigar Sultana Speaks Out
Speaking to Daily Cricket, Nigar categorically denied the allegations, stating she is not an aggressive leader like India’s Harmanpreet Kaur.
“Why would I hit anyone? Am I Harmanpreet, going around striking the stumps? In my personal space, I might bang my bat or hit my helmet—but why would I do that to someone else? You can ask other players or anyone else; I have never behaved that way,” Nigar said.
She questioned the credibility of the claims, highlighting that the team management is always present during practices and matches.
“The way I’ve been described in the allegations is not who I am. Jahanara claimed someone in Australia said, ‘Please save us, Jyoti apu is beating us,’” she explained. “If I really did harm someone, is there no team management, manager, or coaching staff present? Am I the ultimate authority?”
Board Expected to Act
The allegations have created a serious controversy in Bangladesh cricket. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is expected to take steps to investigate and address the situation as the turmoil continues to unfold.
