'Babar Azam Must Be Dropped,' Says Pakistan Legend Ahead of England Tests

Babar Azam is currently facing a challenging phase with the bat, raising significant concerns for the Pakistan cricket team. Recently, former cricketing great Zaheer Abbas voiced his opinion on Babar’s struggles, making a bold statement regarding his position in the team.

The white-ball captain has come under fire for his lackluster performances, particularly during the recent two-match home Test series against Bangladesh, where he managed to score only 64 runs across four innings. His disappointing form has led to his exit from the top ten of the ICC Test Batting Rankings.

Babar’s last substantial contribution in red-ball cricket was a remarkable 161 against New Zealand in 2022. Since that innings, however, he has struggled significantly, with his highest score being just 39 runs in 16 innings, which came against Sri Lanka in July 2023.

During a sports talk show in the UAE, Zaheer Abbas didn’t shy away from expressing his views on Babar’s current form. He firmly stated that if Babar continues to fail to deliver, he should be dropped from the team.

Babar Azam should be dropped from the team,

Abbas asserted.

If he’s not scoring runs, and if he’s our key batsman, then he shouldn’t be in the squad.
