Earlier in the match, Keacy Carty missed out on a century due to a run-out miscommunication, while debutant paceman Xavier Bartlett impressed with four wickets, contributing to the West Indies’ total of 231.

Carty, aiming for his first ODI century, fell short at 88 off 108 balls after a mix-up with his partner Hayden Walsh resulted in a run-out at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Xavier Bartlett, making his ODI debut alongside Lance Morris (0-59), had a stellar start, taking a wicket with his third ball and finishing with figures of 4-17 from nine overs. He dismissed Justin Greaves, Alick Athanaze, and skipper Shai Hope, leaving the West Indies struggling at 59 for four in the 16th over.

The partnership between Kavem Hodge and Carty was broken when Hodge was caught for 11, and leg-spinner Adam Zampa ended a 110-run partnership by bowling Roston Chase for 59.

Unfortunately, Carty’s run-out, due to a poor call by Walsh, occurred when he was just 12 runs away from a century. The West Indies, sent in to bat by Australia captain Steve Smith, were all out with eight balls remaining in their innings.
