Ashwin and Bumrah Propel India for Series-Leveling Triumph

In a sensational display of skill, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah orchestrated a remarkable victory for India, leveling the series by 106 runs against England in the second Test on Monday.

Ashwin and Bumrah were the architects of England’s downfall, claiming three wickets each and wresting control of the contest. The morning session proved pivotal as England, chasing 399 for victory, lost five crucial wickets, allowing India to seize the initiative.

Opener Zak Crawley’s resilient 73, alongside defiant innings from Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley with scores of 36 each, provided glimpses of resistance for England. However, their efforts were not enough, as the team succumbed to an all-out total of 292 in the second session on day four.

Left-arm spinner Axar Patel set the stage by dismissing England’s nightwatchman Rehan Ahmed, who had contributed a brisk 23. Ashwin, in a spectacular display, removed Ollie Pope and Joe Root in successive overs, diminishing England’s hopes of a successful chase.

Despite a promising start to Crawley’s aggressive batting and Jonny Bairstow’s stability, their departure in successive overs before lunch dealt a severe blow to England’s aspirations. The run-out of Ben Stokes for 11 effectively snuffed out any remaining hopes for the visitors.

With the series level, all eyes will turn to the third Test in Rajkot, set to commence on Feb. 15, where both teams will seek to gain a decisive edge.
