The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday that all-rounder Aamir Jamal has been released from the two-Test series against Bangladesh due to an injury.

Jamal, 28, sustained a back injury while playing for Warwickshire in county cricket. Since joining the team in April, he has participated in three Tests and six T20Is. His last appearance was on June 8, after which he was sidelined due to his injury.

Initially included in the squad for the Bangladesh series, Jamal’s participation was contingent on his fitness. However, he couldn’t achieve match fitness and was ultimately released.

Aamir Jamal has been released from the Test squad for the series against Bangladesh. He has been advised to focus on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore,” stated the PCB.

The first Test of the Pakistan-Bangladesh series, part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, is set to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
