Aakash Chopra Slams Bangladesh’s Lackluster Performance in First T20I Against India

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra didn’t hold back in critiquing Bangladesh’s performance after their one-sided seven-wicket loss to India in the first T20I on October 6 in Gwalior. Bangladesh’s batters struggled, managing only 127 runs, which India chased down in just 11.5 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Bangladesh’s batting lineup never found momentum, with India’s bowling, led by Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh, keeping them on the back foot. Chakravarthy’s impactful return saw him grab three wickets, with Arshdeep matching that to dismantle the opposition.

Aakash Chopra on Bangladesh’s “Sub-Standard” Performance

Chopra, speaking on his YouTube channel, called out Bangladesh’s lack of competitiveness, labeling their display “sub-standard” and remarking on their failure to pose any challenge to India.

They were dominated and disposed of,

Chopra stated.

Bangladesh, what are you doing? This wasn’t a match; it was a mismatch. Whoever bowled took wickets, and whoever batted scored easily. India went 1-0 ahead without breaking a sweat.

The former cricketer continued,

With respect, Bangladesh, you’re not challenging India right now. When you play cricket like this, it’s sub-standard and mediocre. Raise your game if you want to be competitive.
