Chasing a daunting situation where LSG needed 54 runs in the final four overs, Choudhary delivered a breathtaking unbeaten effort, scoring 52 of those runs to pull off an improbable win for his side.
Chopra praised the youngster’s fearless approach, saying Lucknow were effectively out of the contest before Choudhary turned the game on its head.
“Mukul Choudhary, brother, a star is born. He has played an incredible knock,” Chopra said, highlighting the batter’s confidence in an otherwise hopeless situation.
He added that LSG “had no business winning this game” and credited Choudhary for single-handedly dragging the team over the line despite having minimal support from the other end.
Chopra also noted how the 21-year-old intelligently managed the strike from the 16th over onwards, effectively taking responsibility in the death overs as wickets fell around him.
He further suggested that LSG’s batting structure may need adjustment, pointing out their reliance on a short batting lineup despite the Impact Player rule.
Analyzing the innings, Chopra praised Choudhary’s all-round strokeplay, noting that he hit boundaries all around the ground, including a range of sixes off both pace and short deliveries, showcasing exceptional power and composure under pressure.
