14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Named Bihar Vice-Captain for Ranji Trophy

In a remarkable development, 14-year-old rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been appointed vice-captain of the Bihar cricket team for the first two matches of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season. The team will be led by Sakibul Gani.

The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) announced a 15-member squad to compete in the Plate Group this season. Bihar’s opening two home matches will be against Arunachal Pradesh (Oct 15–18) and Meghalaya (Nov 1–4), both at the Moinul Haq Stadium in Patna.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Recent Form

Vaibhav enters the Ranji season on the back of an impressive run in India Under-19’s tour of Australia. In the first Test, he scored a blazing century in Brisbane and finished the series as the second-highest run-scorer with 133 runs in three innings, averaging 44.33 at a strike rate of 131.68.

He continued his form in the subsequent three-match ODI series, scoring 124 runs at an average of 41.33 and a strike rate of 112.73, including a standout innings of 70 off 68 balls in the second ODI.

IPL Milestone

Earlier in 2025, Suryavanshi made headlines in the Indian Premier League, becoming the youngest player ever signed before turning 14. Representing the Rajasthan Royals, he became the youngest centurion in IPL history, smashing 101 off 38 balls against the Gujarat Titans.
